Gina:

Legendary Entertainment is one of the top grossing film studios today. Founded in 2000 by the ambitious Thomas Tull, Legendary grosses $8 billion worldwide at the box office and owns, produces and delivers content that is specifically created to a target audience on a powerful fandom demographic.

This summer, Legendary is releasing a new film directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) with a cast of Leonard DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sir Michael Caine, Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard. Titled Inception, this ambitious film takes you on a journey unlike any other psychological adventure. It is also expected to be the film of choice this summer. Due to the prestige of both studio, directer and cast, I believe that this is extremely relevant to your publication in the New York Times.

General Pitch:

Christopher Nolan’s most recent project has been in the works for give or take an entire decade. Originally pitched 10 years ago, the idea in mind was scaled down to a microcosm in comparison to what it is today. After the massive success of the re-inventive Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008), Nolan did not hesitate to bring his next film project an entirely new level. With an all-star cast of Leonard DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sir Michael Caine, Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard, Inception captivates the audience into a surreal dream that is layered within a dream within yet another dream.

Dominic Cobb (DiCaprio) is an architect. Not a traditional architect who spends hours on end meticulously scribbling sketches of a building that may someday be tangible. No, he creates empires— or mazes— in his conscious mind so that his subconscious can fill this space. By doing this, the subject in which he is sharing dreams with is convinced that this dream is real. As a result, defense mechanisms are lowered and the subject becomes vulnerable to revealing secrets. Feeling mind blown yet? And this is only a fraction of the entire plot line.

Inception is a story that makes sense only when seen from start to finish. Presumably a project inspired by Nolan’s previous mind-altering film Memento (2000), Inception toys with the notion of lucid dreaming, espionage and planting an idea into someone’s mind with such subtly that they believe they thought of it themselves. Legendary Entertainment releases Inception on July 13, 2010 to theaters everywhere. It is expected to top the box office its opening week and could even receive an oscar nod or two.

It is near impossible to replicate a film such as Inception and it cannot be compared to any film already made. One of a kind and under the direction of Christopher Nolan, it is highly anticipated to be, and rightfully should be, the hit blockbuster film of the summer. So lose yourself within the multi-layered dreamlike ambience of Inception— it is definitely not one to miss.
