Thomas Tull never thought in a million years that he would be operating a business that was focused and located in the entertainment industry. In fact, he saw himself becoming a lawyer in New York City. Before becoming Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Legendary Pictures, Tull was an astute businessman in Wall street. With a strong business-oriented mind-set, Tull started off with a coin-laundry business and entered the private equity field where he had to deal with contracts related to the entertainment business. Before establishing Legendary and becoming a Hollywood powerhouse, Tull spent a year collecting $600 million from blue chip investors. In 2000, Tull took his investments, moved to Los Angeles and founded Legendary Entertainment.

 

Hailing from Binghamton, New York, Thomas graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, in 1992 and has always been passionate about comic books. His devotion to action-packed pop culture and comic books are clearly reflected through the big-budget projects Tull chooses to produce. Tull works very closely to each project and considers only films that he would personally want to see. More importantly, Tull is most invested in the choice of director in a given project. Known for taking risks such as casting lesser-known director of through the motion picture side of Legendary Entertainment, Legendary Pictures.

 

In 2010, Tull and two new financial backers, Fidelity Investments and Fortress Investment Group, bought out all of the investors who originally contributed to the start-up of Legendary Entertainment. The majority of shares were bought out by Tull, granting him creative freedom to expand Legendary in the fields of television and comics. Only 43 years old today, Thomas Tull is currently worth $840 million with his net worth expected to grow to $1 billion within the next oncoming years. Currently, Tull owns a portion of the Pittsburg Steelers, is a board member of the American Film Institute, and lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three children.
